General Installation Methods Of Geotextile Composite Geomembrane

Nov 21, 2019

As the key medium of the anti-seepage structure, the geomembrane layer should meet the stress requirements during installation, because the leak control effect of geomembrane is related to its strength and thickness. Therefore, choose the appropriate thickness according to the design stress.

The geotextile composite geomembrane heated with geotextile on one side or two sides has the features of high overall strength, tear resistance, anti-breaking and anti-piercing ability. The geotextile compounded on the membrane surface has supported and protected abilities.

For the leak control structure utilized with composite geomembrane, in general, the support layer and the protection layer can be simplified. For example, this geotextile composite geomembrane can be directly laid before the placement of concrete facing surface or the protective surface composed of the gravel cushion and the concrete slab. After laying this composite geomembrane, the medium coarse sand cushion can be directly laid.

The phenomenon that geotextile composite geomembrane is punctured is caused by the unenven subgrade, so it is important to prepare and maintain the civil works of subgrade.

General geotextile composite geomembrane installation method:
First, subgrade treatment
Subgrade should be prepared according to the design requirements, which is the key to ensuring the leak control performance. The substances including sharp stones, roots and other foreign subjects should be thoroughly removed, and subgrade is not allowed to be uneven. The prepared and maitained subgrade should be compacted by a tamper or a seesaw.

Second, laying
When laying the geotextile composite geomembrane, it must be laid from top to bottom. The overlap between geocomposites, and between geomembrane and the subgrade should be flat and tight, but it should not be pulled too tightly, generally it should be slightly loose. The bubbles should be prevented from at the bottom. Because geotextile composite geomembrane is relatively thin and light, it is easy to be blown by the wind before the protective layer is laid. Therefore, geotextile composite geomembrane should not be deployed with a large area at one time. Lay the protective layer of soil once geocomposite is laid well.

Third, joint
The joint has three methods of hot-melt welding, gluing and compacting, wherein the hot-melt welding has the best waterproof effect.
